His Excellency the U.S. Ambassador to Serbia, Mr. Cameron Munter, paid a visit to Kragujevac where he met with the Mayor Veroljub Stevanovic. The goal of his visit was to attend the Dislocated Registry Office, the part of the Municipal Self-government where registry records from some Kosovo municipalities (Pec, Istok i Klina) are placed.
The Ambassador used this opportunity to review the realization of technical upgrading project for the Dislocated Registry Office that U.S. Embassy funded through UNHCR providing electronic guidance system for displaced population personal documentation, such as birth and citizenship records.
-I am here in Kragujevac today in order to acquaint with the work of the Dislocated Registry Office, in addition to that I wanted to have a look at the way of life of displaced persons from ex-Yugoslavia. I am very content with what I have seen today in Kragujevac and I wish to congratulate to the Mayor and City's Administration on doing a great job and everything possible to help those people-said the Ambassador of the USA during this visit.

The Head of the Municipal Self-government Mrs. Slavica Kominac assured that within five minutes the personal documentation can be let to an individual, both in person or via electronic guidance system "Virtual Registrar". Baring in mind that registry records from those three Kosovo Municipalities contain information for 180 000 residents, this project made possible faster and more efficient way of dealing with this matter both to the clients and employees who are more quality work in the entrusted affairs.
